About RLIOF

The “Rame Lahaj International Opera Festival” is a 10-day event that aims to enrich the cultural life of Kosovo and promote the country on the international stage. The festival is named after the renowned Kosovar tenor Rame Lahaj. Through his experience and artistic prestige in the international opera community, Lahaj has brought together a diverse group of well-known opera singers to perform at the festival. By bringing together artists from different backgrounds and providing opportunities for young artists to develop artistically through masterclasses, the Rame Lahaj International Opera Festival fosters growth and innovation in the world of opera, with the ultimate goal of promoting Kosovo and its cultural heritage on the global stage.

FROM RLIOF

Rame Lahaj Foundation was established with the aim of promoting and cultivating genuine music in Kosovo, finding new talents and developing their potential, while also researching and perfecting the knowledge on music as a whole, focusing on opera singing in particular. All this is possible by bringing to Kosovo masters from all over the world to lecture during masterclasses of RLIOF, where bridges of collaboration are built between both young artists and those in their prime careers with various opera studios. The Foundation also helps to cover the school tuition of distinguished talents who come as a result of the masterclasses and the RLIOF festival.

Our Mission

In the Rame Lahaj International Opera Festival we strive to bring the beauty and power of opera to the people of Kosovo. Founded in the summer of 2021, amidst the challenges of the pandemic, our festival is dedicated to promoting several sustainable development goals, cultural exchange and diversity. As the most recent independent state in Southeast Europe, Kosovo is still in the process of integrating into the European community. The Kosovar people are eager to gain knowledge and to be involved in the transmission of European culture.
