One of the primary objectives of the RLIOF festival is to identify and support emerging talent in the world of opera. In order to accomplish this, the festival offers Masterclasses, which provide intensive training and coaching for aspiring musicians. These Masterclasses, which take place over the course of ten days, are led by experienced vocal coaches and are designed to support the development of young artists, students, and professionals.
Participants in the Masterclasses have the opportunity to work closely with the coaches and receive personalized instruction and guidance. The classes cover a range of topics, including vocal technique, performance skills, and repertoire selection. In addition to providing hands-on training, the Masterclasses also offer networking opportunities and the chance to collaborate with other aspiring musicians.

Dario Russo, renowned for his expertise in the bel canto repertoire, has performed on prestigious venues including Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Bela Bartok National Concert Hall in Budapest. Under the direction of notable conductors such as Fabio Luisi, Donato Renzetti, Nello Santi, Sebastian Weigle, Pier Giorgio Morandi, Jesus Lopez-Cobos, Charles Dutoit, and guided by directors like Laurent Pelly, Robert Carsen, Klaus Guth, Christof Loy, Leo Muscato, Gabriele Lavia, Davide Livermore, and Damiano Michieletto, he has performed a range of renowned roles including Attila, Zaccaria, Henry VII, Timur, Raimondo, and others. In addition to his opera career, Dario Russo has also developed a concert career, interpreting well-known works such as Puccini’s “Messa di Gloria,”Verdi’s “Requiem,” Dvorak’s “Stabat Mater,” Rossini’s “Messe Solennelle,” Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 9 in D minor Op. 125,” among others. Dario Russo is a vocal master at the ‘Rame Lahaj’ foundation and vocal master in the singing masterclass at the fourth edition of RLIOF.
Francisco Araiza (born 4 October 1950), is a Mexican operatic tenor and lied singer who has sung as soloist in leading concert halls and in leading tenor operatic roles in the major opera houses of Europe and North America during the course of a lengthy career. Born in Mexico City, he studied singing at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música de México and later in Germany, with Mozartian tenor Richard Holm, and lieder interpretation with Erik Werba. He made his operatic debut in 1970 in Mexico City as First Prisoner in Beethoven’s Fidelio. Araiza initially came to international prominence singing in Mozart and Rossini operas, but in the 1980s broadened his repertoire to include Italian and French lyric tenor roles and Wagnerian roles such as Lohengrin and Walther von Stolzing. He was made a Kammersänger of the Vienna State Opera in 1988. Now retired from the opera stage, he teaches singing and serves on the juries of several international singing competitions.
Jean Bernard Thomas is a French tenor who comes from a family of opera lovers. Jean Bernard Thomas has performed on several national and international stages in Italy (Teatro alla Scala), France, Germany, Austria, Russia, United States and more. His repertoire includes the role of Rodolpho (La Bohème), Le Marquis de la Force (Les Dialogues des Carmélites), Macduff (Macbeth), Ismaël (Nabucco), Percy (Anna Bolena), Edgardo (Lucia de Lammermoor) and Alfredo (La Traviata) which he has played more than fifty times. He also participated in many operatoria such as Verdi’s Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem and the Messe solennelle by Rossini. At the head of the “Il Belcanto” association, he works to promote opera in the region through concerts supported by various patrons of Reunion Island. Since the creation of his company JBT Voice Master, he has taught vocal technique and the Art of Bel Canto to intermittent performers and he is regularly invited by the Paris Opera for advanced courses with the artists of the house in the part of their vocational training.
